The Lazy Girl Challenge
The DIVAS and their self-portrait quilt

Front: Joan Huseth, Jeanne Back, Shelly Stokes, Jane Lillestol
Back: Janet Houle, Rebecca Albright, Deb Mohr, Mary Ritter, Linda Huebner.
Missing in Action: Carole Anderson

The DIVAS are a group of quilters from Alexandria, Minnesota and the surrounding area. We all share an interest in non-traditional quilting methods and exploring new techniques. Here is a photo from our holiday lunch in mid-December.

This fall, I asked my friends in the DIVAS quilt group to make some samples using fabric embellished with paintstik rubbings. Fortunately, they were up for the challenge of finishing projects on a pretty short timeline. The results were amazing. Armed with painted silk, Oliver Twist thread assortments and patterns from Lazy Girl Designs, they made a batch of lovely projects for display at the fall quilt market in Houston. The Lazy Girl patterns are incredibly quick to put together — and they are great projects when you want to try out something new!
